An article that does what it says on the tin – in reverse order, here’s my top 10 things to do on the Amalfi Coast!
10) Sample the local produce with a chilled glass of lemonade.
9) Spend some time in nearby Sorrento, staying at Hotel Cristina for wonderful views of Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples, and sample the most incredible mozzarella based dishes at Inn Bufalito.
8) Wander around Amalfi town before taking a dip in its crystal blue waters.
7) Hire a moped in Capri and explore all four corners of the island before having lunch, a sunbathe and a dip at La Fontelina.
6) Check out Fiordo di Furore, the coastline’s ‘hidden beach’.
5) Visit Augustus Gardens for the best views of Faraglioni, the iconic towering rocks of Capri, and ensure that you do not leave the gardens without appreciating the views of the winding road of Via Krupp.
4) Soak up the coastal views from the picturesque gardens of Villa Rufolo in Ravello.
3) Embark upon a boat trip along the coastline and cool off regularly in the sea.
2) Take the chairlift up to Monte Solaro on Capri for the most beautiful panoramic views of the island.
1) Visit Positano and stay at Le Sirenuse for stunning views across the town.
I’m ready to go! Love this!
Honestly couldn’t recommend it more – my favourite coastal location in Europe!
I was supposed to go there for my honeymoon in June, but we pushed the trip to May 2021. Fingers crossed it all works out, I’ve been dreaming of going for years!
That’s such a shame, hopefully things will be closer to ‘normal’ by then and you’ll be able to go! I’d really recommend staying at Le Sirenuse in Positano as a honeymoon location! 🙂
I enjoyed my visit to the Amalfi Coast in 2015 Number 3 is spot on! This coastline is best viewed from trolling the water. Don’t forget your lemonade and your sunscreen!
Definitely, so nice lounging on a boat soaking up both views and rays! Lemonade, sunscreen and your bank card – because it’s definitely one of the most expensive places in the world!
one of my favorite places to visit!! 🙂
Great post!
Wonderful! For me also, sampling the local food is one of the delights of travel. Amalfi Coast is on my bucket list, but we have to go back to Crete first, we have ‘family’ to see. Aussies in Greece get warm welcomes.
Maybe we can explore more of Italy after we leave Crete. So much to see!
I agree, too much to see and covid getting in the way of everyone’s plans! I have to say, the Amalfi coast is definitely up there with one of my favourite places in Europe so I’d really recommend you to visit, it was stunning. Enjoy your trip to Crete, how easy is it to travel outside of Aus at the moment? We got to visit Australia at the start of the year and I absolutely loved it!
We can now travel to New Zealand if we isolate for two weeks. People can come from New Zealand to NSW and Queensland only. Inside Australia there are still some closed borders.
I’m glad you visited here early in the year. Things were starting to shut down in mid-February, and before that we had fires, then floods. It’s been a horrible year. Fires are just starting up again.
Wow!! you are so well traveled! Great read.
That’s really kind, thank you! I think the Amalfi coast has to be a highlight of mine, it’s definitely my favourite coastal location in Europe!
